Its compact centre preserves notable Renaissance and religious architecture, reflecting the town’s former importance as a regional seat of power. The Collegiate Church of Santísimo Sacramento stands out as the main landmark, with an impressive façade and an elaborate high altarpiece. The Convent of the Franciscan Conceptionists, built over the remains of King Pedro I’s palace, adds a layer of royal heritage, while the Hospital of La Caridad and its Chapel of Cristo de la Sangre illustrate the town’s artistic and charitable traditions. Plaza de España, as in many Spanish towns, remains the natural gathering point.

Visiting Torrijos – Just passing by
Our plan, returning from the southern coast, was to make a night stop close to Toledo, that half of the group wanted to visit in the next day, while the other half would proceed back home. This hotel was a cheap suggestion of Booking, in the strategically place where we would separate, and we booked it.
We didn’t see the city (despite a short walk, searching the best of Torrijos highlights mentioned in my guide (not outstanding), the only thing that we noticed was the use of the hotel’s large pool as a comunal one, with entrance to the street.
I don’t know the conditions and prices, but it seems a good idea.
