Ribeira de pena1

The Church of Ribeira de Pena is an interesting example of baroque architecture, already showing signs of rocaille.

It was built during the second half of the 18th century under the initiative of a local patron, being consecrated to S. Salvador.

The well-appointed main square of the village is dominated by the church, but other important elements can be seen there, such as the pillory, a bandstand, and the new building of the Town Hall, built in 1932 to replace the one that had been used since the 18th century.

The most important thing about Ribeira de Pena is the contact with a very rich natural landscape, used for various leisure activities.

Several trails, well signposted, open up many other alternatives.
