Eira do Serrado – The most remote

Maybe the most remote location in the island, Curral das Freiras stays in a deep valley squeezed between the biggest mountains of the island. This is the best viewpoint from above, and it really deserves the trip.

I only saw it from the distance, but that was enough to make me feel a sort of claustrophobia.

​How did they live before the new and practical road?

(In the war in Angola, one of my soldiers was a savage from Madeira, that only had a bed and saw the sea for the first time when he joined the army. I believe that he lived here – I saw no other chance…).​
