Alqueva – Village by the Dam
A remote and unknown village, this village became a known name after the decision to build the dam that took the village’s name.
Now, in the edge of the biggest artificial lake in Europe, tourism is an opportunity and things may change.
The Dam
This small village is not the most suitable place to visit the dam, but, since you are there, the dam is, indeed, its best attraction.
As a matter of fact it is not the village that shows the dam: It’s the dam that shows the village that gave name to it, if you know what I mean!
