Named Praça Francisco Ornelas da Câmara, the small central square of Praia da Vitória was built in the 14th century. Dominated by the elegant building of the City Hall, it has the Statue of Liberty in the center.

On a hill adjacent to the city, on the north side, a viewpoint was installed with spectacular views over the city and its surroundings.

In the center, at the end of the last century, an imposing monument to the “Immaculate Heart of Mary” was installed, executed in bronze by an Azorean sculptor.

Eating in Praia da Vitória
Cataplana

Generally referred to on the internet as one of the best restaurants on Terceira, it was our obvious choice for lunch. We chose the most praised dish, Cataplana do Mar, and we did not regret it. Delicious!
However, it has to be done justice, and it seemed a little fatter and cloying than the one in the Algarve, but worthy of a reminder, even for the difference.
