Merida

Merida – 2 days in the big city

City of Merida

Mérida was supposed to be just one overnight stop in our way to Uxmal, but we used carefully the few free time to see it, and… it is nice, indeed!

In a pleasant area, a square was used, about 50 years ago to celebrate Mexican nationality.

The big sculpture from Romulo Rozo uses the expression of the classical Mayan art.

We only spent there one night but enjoyed the hotel.

Lively without being noisy, nice rooms, good service, it felt really good the short time in the pool after the tiring visit of town.

Selected areas

Leaving Mérida to Uxmal, we stopped in a restaurant with two different spaces. No, it was not smokers or non-smokers, it was “only men” and common area.

It was the only time that I saw that kind of segregation in America, and found it so funny, that… I had a severe distraction.

Salads

My son Tito had a salad, and, in the next morning he was over 40º, forcing me to invade a doctor’s house at 7AM, after driving almost 20 km searching for a non existent hospital.
Two days later he was better, but the “exclusivo caballeros” kept connected to the only situation of “Moctezuma’s revenge” in our family.
