Mendiga – 2 happy days

Visiting Mendiga

Mendiga is a small village “lost” in the middle of Aire and Candeeiros mountains park.

It has nothing special to see and do, except to those who want tranquility in pure nature.

A car is indispensable, and, with it, lots of touristy attractions are close, reachable in less than an hour.

Not far from home, this village in the middle of the national park of Aire and Candeeiros mountain, was far from my life until… last year.

An invitation for a dancing demonstration was the first approach, and a party in New Year’s Eve the second.

Not much to see, nor to do, but… good times!

Staying inside a national park, picnic is not a bad idea in Mendiga.

They have prepared a small area, very well arranged and decorated, not difficult to find by the road to Arrimal.

We didn’t use it, because we had better just some meters distant, but kept it in mind for an eventual occasion.

I recommend Casa da Forja – Excellent

It was a surprise, this place, owned by a known family. The house was wisely recovered, and it is now a perfect solution for a group or a family stay.

With three sleeping rooms, it is possible to book it in several ways, from an exclusive rent for a small or large period, to a common housing with regular service and meals. The flexibility is absolute, the house is comfortable, and the garden with pool, barbecue and playground is great.

A party in nature

Sometimes you need to leave everything behind, forget the tension of each day life, and meet nature, with is calm and simplicity.

That may be done in the wild, or with some comfort, in some places as Mendiga.

We decided to do it in New Year’s eve, with a party close to home for logistic reasons, and far enough to provide the desired break.

A group of a dozen people gathered in Casa da Forja, and for a couple of days, had fun cooking, talking, and walking in the pure natural area.

It was nice.
