​ Visiting Catalonia

One quick passage in Barcelona, and Monserrate more than thirty years ago, left the feeling that I should plan another visit to Catalonia. I did, but a single week didn’t allow much more than adding Rosas to the known places, with a quick view of Platja d’Aro, Figueres and Malgrat de Mar.

The return trip allowed a night in the already visited Salou, to forget the failed experience in Gavà.

Well Barcelona is still calling for me, there’s much more to see, and with low cost flights, it is not too far, so…

I’ve been twice in Barcelona, but I keep the feeling that I didn’t see Barcelona.

The first visit was so long ago, and the second so superficial, that I’m only waiting a pretext to plan the third.

Anyway, something I remember of what I saw

​Gavà came to my knowledge while browsing internet trying to find a beach close enough to Barcelona to allow a daily visit of the city.

It’s location was perfect, and the chosen hotel even better, so I made my mind.

Locally things were not so perfect – the area is mainly residential, and the hotel, though located in the beach was not a beach hotel.

We left Gavà earlier than prevue.

It was a planned stop to the evening swim and sleep. We arrived late, and skipped the swim, replaced by a quick view of the beach.

The night stroll was interesting, revealing Platja d’Aro as a lively city, confirming the the planned stop was correctly decided but needing more time.

Rosas was not in my plan.

However, we met some amusing friends in Croatia, and, telling them that we would spend some days in Catalogne, we decided to meet in Rosas.

I cancelled some reservations already done, and… went to know Rosas.

Sorry the meeting has failed, but Rosas was a nice stay.

First stay in Salou was long ago, in a calm cala in Cap Salou.

I remember brackish water pouring from the hotel’s taps, a flock of Italians shouting in the pool and corridors, and not much more.

In the second visit, staying in the main beach, everything was normal, and amidst the thousands of people, the Italians, if there, couldn’t get any evidence.
