S. Pedro
Built during the transition from Romanesque to Gothic, this church has a reduced volume, adorned with Manueline details and a Baroque interior. It is located in a privileged place in the city, with other elements to observe, including the Misericórdia chapel.
S. João de Tarouca
A few quilometres from the village, this important Cistercian church gave its name to the place, a small cluster of houses.
In contrast to Alcobaça, where the essentials of the monastery were preserved, here only the magnificent church was saved, with the surrounding ruins remaining, pending funds for reconstruction, to demonstrate the total size of the monastery.
