Castle of Linhares

The Castle of Linhares da Beira is the most important landmark in the village, and it dates back to the 12th century. The castle walls and towers offer great views of the surrounding countryside.
Misericórdia

The Misericórdia of Linhares da Beira, founded in the 16th century, is located in the village’s historic center, near the castle and the main church. The building is a beautiful example of Portuguese Renaissance architecture, with a façade adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures.
Jew’s House
One of the most appreciated old houses in Linhares is the so-called “Casa do Judeu”, a name that is believed to have originated at the time when the separation between Christians and Jews was mandatory.
After the expulsion of the Jews from Portugal in the 15th century, the building was repurposed for other uses, including as a private residence and as a storage space for agricultural products.
In recent years, the Jew House has undergone extensive restoration work (blessed tourism) and has been transformed into a museum and cultural center.

Pillory

The pillory is a tall stone column that was erected during the 16th century as a symbol of the town’s municipal authority.
It has a circular base with a small platform at the top where public punishments were carried out. There are still visible several metal rings attached to the column that were used to tie prisoners.
