The castle of Borba is the most prominent attraction in the town, dating back to the 14th century. Although only the keep and a few walls remain, it still offers a great view of the surrounding countryside.

The church dates back to the 16th century and features a simple, whitewashed exterior and a traditional bell tower. The interior of the chapel is decorated with beautiful Baroque artwork, including a wooden altar and several paintings and sculptures, but the most interesting is the painted ceiling.

“Passos processionais”

Chapel

The “Passos Processionais” is a religious event that takes place in Borba during Holy Week (common elsewhere with the name of Via Sacra). The event consists of a series of processions between chapels that reenact the Stations of the Cross, which depict the final moments of Jesus Christ’s life.

Via Sacra has 14 stations, Borba has 4 chapels. How does it work? You just have to go there in the Holy Week and let me know.
