Visiting Ayuthaia

Founded in 1350, Ayuthaya, was the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom.  For centuries the city grew and became one of the world’s largest and richest cities. It was abandoned in 1767, when the Burmese army burned it.

The city was never rebuilt, and it is, today, a very important archaeological site, classified by UNESCO as world heritage.

Located 80 kilometers north of the actual capital, it is easily visited in a day trip from Bangkok, or as a stop in a larger trip to the north. However, only Tito and Claudia had time to do it.
