Albacete – Posada del Rosário

The Posada del Rosario dates back to the 16th century and has undergone several renovations over the years. It features a beautiful courtyard with a central fountain, traditional Castilian architecture, and a charming atmosphere.

It seems tha Miguel de Cervantes was the most famous guest, and, today, the Posada del Rosario serves as a cultural center and a venue for various events, exhibitions, and performances.

The Cathedral of San Juan Bautista began in the 16th century, but it was not completed until the 20th century, which is why it exhibits a mix of architectural styles. The predominant style is Gothic, although it also features Renaissance and Baroque elements.

Eat and sleep in Albacete

We were in transit, the stop in town being essentially for lunch.
This huge restaurant, with a varied buffet, was a perfect solution: we ate quickly and cheaply, and the children, usually complicated, found enough in the varied menu to put their worries at rest. Some confusion due to the frequency, but without major inconveniences.

In my youth, I was impressed by the imposing image of Albacete castle in my books.

Twenty years ago, passing nearby in the way to Benidorm, without stopping, I saw the castle.

This time, passing again but with time to stop, I had to visit the castle.

Surprise! There’s no castle in the city, the one that I had in mind is located, not far, but… in Almansa.

When will I be around again to stop in Almansa?
