On a slope in the interior of the island of Madeira, a village emerged whose name seems to come from a water mill, with a saw (in portuguese also meaning mountain range) – Serra de Água

A modern tunnel has transformed what would have been a remote inland town into an important crossroads, bringing it to the forefront of tourism.

After the tremendous destruction in the floods of 2010, it’s back to normal, and attracting hundreds of thousands a year.

The views are impressive, there are popular levadas, flowers are everywhere, and if you stop, remember the poncha.
