Despite its rich history, Machico seems to be the city with less concerns about tourism.
In these pages we plan to collect the travelling experiences by the users of Touristrips, and useful information about this place.
Close to the eastern end of Madeira island, Machico is a municipality where tourism gives way to traditional activities, from agriculture to services, with some weight being given to agriculture, livestock and industry.
The almost flat nature of a large extension of its territory favours these activities, but limits the landscape, and hence the little tourist relevance.
Highlights in Machico:
The forts of São João Baptista and Senhora do Amparo, the mother church and some chapels.
