One of the least touristy cities in Portugal, Castelo Branco is the capital of one of the least touristy districts in the country.
It is this circumstance that gives the city and the region great authenticity, allowing the reunion with some of the strongest traditions.
Highlights in Castelo Branco:
The episcopal palace and the garden, the castle and the walls, the cathedral, the city park and some manor houses. Travelling around town some villages are interesting, with evidence to Monsanto, once considered “the most portuguese”.
