Highlights in Fundão:
From a tourist point of view it is not a top destination, except during cherry blossom season. Out of it visitors can explore the historic town center, including the impressive 18th-century Baroque church. The proximity to Serra da Estrela is a challenge to those wanting active trips.

Thi region’s unique climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions for cherry cultivation, producing fruit that’s sweet, vibrant, and highly prized. Local farmers uphold traditional growing methods, ensuring quality and sustainability. Each spring, a cherry haven is born by the roads, attracting visitors eager to experience the bloom and taste fresh cherries. All my visits were in spring, so, it’s not hard to guess my best experience in Fundão – buying tons of cherries.
