Beja district



An ancient city (Celts, Romans, Visigoths and Arabs passed through there until the Portuguese arrived), Beja was almost always a small and modest city, only in the 20th century assuming some development.

Without being dazzled, there are some interesting signs of this history.

The castle, and some churches and hermitages. It is a central point to visit the immensity of the Alentejo countryside, where some farms provide interesting visits. In the district, the interesting Mértola is only 50 Km distant.
