Sangalhos C1400

Sangalhos

This is a parish in the municipality of Anadia, in the heart of Bairrada, halfway between Coimbra and Aveiro.

Without major tourist arguments for many years, this village established itself in the production of Bairrada wines, which today earned it some recognition.

Highlights in Sangalhos:

This village, recently, has gained recognition for its wine tourism, particularly through the Aliança Underground Museum, where visitors can explore art collections alongside traditional wine cellars.

Beyond its wine heritage, the village offers a glimpse into local history with sites like the Cruzeiro and the “Museu das 2 Rodas”, which showcases the region’s connection to cycling and motorcycling. Nearby Mealhada is a must stop for the Portuguese, to eat the famous “Leitão da Bairrada”.

To See Visit to Sangalhos

Aliança Underground museum

Sangalhos
The Odd Museum

Sangalhos is a discreet town in Bairrada, known for its wines and sparkling wines.
One day, a wealthy businessman, passionate about art, bought the most famous cellars and set up a museum there for sure, the best of Sangalhos.
Oscillating between magnificent and banal pieces, between appreciable and dubious criteria, the truth is that the visit to the cellars has become something new and different.
It is worth it!

The Shop

The visit to the museum obviously ends at the shop, where the price of the visit includes a tasting of sparkling wine.
Naturally, the store is open to the outside world, and it is not necessary to make an appointment to simply choose and buy.

Alves Barbosa

Alves Barbosa House

The village name caught the ear of many Portuguese indifferent to wine thanks to the first national cyclist to be present (and dignified) in the Tour of France.
Alves Barbosa has a fair tribute in his homeland, which he promoted a lot.
