Traditional village

Szentendre

It was a short walk upwards to the center of town.

The center of Szentendre feels artistic, colorful and warmly inviting. Cobblestone lanes curve past pastel houses, small galleries open onto lively squares and cafés spill into sunlit corners. It is a place where creativity shapes everyday life — charming, intimate and unmistakably Hungarian.

Differente look, different architecture, but the place reminded me our precious Óbidos.

Generalized fashion

A few years ago, the festivities in Águeda surprised me with a decoration made from thousands of colorful parasols. It made sense, because the region was the most traditional producer of this item in Portugal before the Chinese forced its closure.
The truth is that the ease and gracefulness of the decorative solution led to imitations, and it is no longer surprising to see parasols hanging.
It was curious to see that the fashion is not exclusive to Portugal, and, on one of the most beautiful streets in the city, there were the parasols, making the street even more beautiful.

Handicrafts

Szentendre

Traditional village rhymes with handicrafts, and there we saw not only handicraft shops (I didn’t see if they were made in Szentendre or China) but also traditional arts workshops.
We couldn’t go in and confirm if they were open, but they were there.

Relationship with the river

The village seems to live somewhat on the banks of the river, but the banks are well-maintained and utilized. I noticed a small river beach, though I don’t know if the Danube’s water quality is usable or if it’s merely decorative. It was still spring, and the emptiness was natural.
