Opatija is an Istrian seaside town near Rijeka.
Nowadays Dubrovnik is called “the pearl of the Adriatic”, but that title once belonged to this city.
As a tourist town for many decades before the tourism boom, it has maintained much of its Belle Époque image, from its heyday as a seaside resort.
Highlights in Opatija:
The promenade along the sea, the church of Saint Jacob, the open-air theatre and Angiolina (mansion and park).
