The excellent location of the island of Singapore, from very early on, made it strategic for international trade. With the passage of several European peoples and a Japanese occupation in World War II, after a few years again under British rule, it joined the Malay Federation, but for a short time – since 1965 an autonomous regime was installed, under military protection of the British until 1971 .
Frantic development has made this small country a stronghold in world trade, increasingly sensitive to new tourism opportunities, being easy to access from Bangkok or China.
