The fisher girl
I’ve only spent a couple days in Zhuhai. My Chinese hosts wanted me to see the Fisher Girl !!! – I had no idea what it should be, but I learned that the statue was the most iconic landmark of the city, standing gracefully on the edge of Xianglu Bay.
The statue depicts a young woman lifting a shining pearl toward the sky, symbolizing beauty, hope, and the city’s connection to the sea. Yes, it’s nice.
Jintai temple
Despite having appreciated the girl, I must confess that I was more impressed by this temple. in traditional Chinese architecture. It was nice to wander in its ornated rooms and corridors, withs statues and gardens, always with the intense smell of incense.
Zhuhai museum
The museum was also a good experience. Mixing several types of artifacts, it allowed me to meet the famous terracota warriors without the need of the long trip to Xi’an.

Much older and bigger a dinosaur skeleton was almost complete. Impressive!
Border to Macao
Being so close to Macao, its visit was mandatory. Surprised me the huge border between two Chinese towns. Take it easy, don’t waste your time explaining the why, I know the political reasons, and must confess that I had no trouble crossing in both ways.
Agriculture
Countryside was not in my plans for this trip, however, i was surprised by strawberry harvesting in a so watered land that I was expecting should be specific for rice. Well, I’m not an expert, only like to observe and think!

Yes, making friens is the best in life, and I had good times in Zhuhai
I would like to write about the good gastronomic experiences that I had in town, however, I couldn’t identify the places, because, for me, it was all Chinese. From small restaurants to big eating malls, eating in town was never a problem, and sometimes, I could identify what I was eating.
Being driven by locals most of the time, I had no opportunity to test local transports, in a city that seemed well organized and cleaner than I expected. I may only mention that the transport to the airport was reliable, departing each 50 minutes.
