Washington DC is the capital of the United States and also a federal district, designated Columbia, on the border between Virginia and Maryland.
As a capital, much of the best it has is widely publicized by the media, but only a visit can give a correct image of the layout and size of the monuments.
Unless you can get a difficult invitation to Casa Banca, you’ll have to make do with the rest, which is a lot.
In addition to the “mandatory” Capitol and Lincoln Memorial, including the memorials of various wars, and the obelisk, several museums and gardens are on offer, in a not very wide area, favoring the visit.
