Ribeirão Preto, in the state of São Paulo, was founded in 1856, growing rapidly by the inclusion of former miners with the mines exhausted.

Cattle raising and agriculture became the dominant activities, with coffee growing becoming dominant.

Today, industrialization is on the rise, and research is mostly linked to traditional activities. Commerce and services are today the city’s biggest source of income.

Highlights in Ribeirão Preto:

Despite not being a tourist destination, the city has some interesting details, such as the Coffee Museum, the D. Pedro II theatre, and the Pinguim beer hall, in front of some parks.
