Itamaracá is a beautiful island on the outskirts of Recife, occupied by colonizers since very early times.
In the 16th century, the Dutch built a fort on the site, called Fort Orange. Attacked by the Portuguese, the fort was razed to the ground, and rebuilt by the Portuguese according to their own standards, although it retains its original name.
Highlights in Itamaracá:
In addition to the fort, and a curious experience in protecting the manatee, a wealth of fish and shellfish, favoured by the mangroves, helps the beautiful beaches, with the Coroa do Avião as an invitation from a distance.

Itamaracá – just 1 great day
